How to increase traffic by Blog Commenting

Posted on 18. Dec, 2009 by in Blogging for beginners, Fruitful Fridays

Every day many new blogs are coming. The competition gets increased. We try very hard to improve traffic in our blog. There are many ways to get traffic. One of the most important and easy way of getting traffic is through commenting. Yeah today we are going to see about the benefits of commenting in others blog. I have summarized few points regarding that and it will be useful for the readers.

Choose Related Blogs

Choose blogs related to your blog. Try to give suitable comment regarding the article. Don’t comment as “thanks for the post, nice post”. It will not provide a good impact on you and your blog. Read the article fully and share your ideas about that article. This will be an encouragement to that blog author. If you present a valuable comment, then there will be visit to your blog in turn.

Do-Follow

Many blogs are now using Do-follow. When you comment on those blogs it will provide you backlink to your blog. This will increase the traffic for your website. Before leaving a comment in a blog check whether you have given your username, blog name correctly.

Comment Regularly

Be a regular commentator in those blog. Don’t leave any blog just commenting for few days. Try to get good relationship with other blogs through commenting. Build conversation through commenting. This also helps you to get idea for your next topic. When it is needed you can also involve in controversial commenting.

Conduct Contest

Everyone can try this point. It’s not needed that only money can be offered in contest. You can also provide advertisement for the top commentator who wins the contest. If you have any theme or cash amount, you can also announce that as winning prize. So It is a benefit for both blog owners. They get free advertisement to their blog through this contest and you will also get more traffic through commenting.

For example

Similar commenting contest was conducted in INTERNTHOW blog in the last week. Novice Bloggers won that contest. Likewise you can also conduct contest regarding comments.

Be Consistent

Try to use same username, gravatar while you comment on other blog. Be consistent in that. Don’t change it unnecessarily. Because it gives an identity to your blog. If you change it frequently, it will be confusion to the readers and other blog authors to identify you. Try to comment early others blog.

Indirect Visitors

Try to be a regular commentator to other blogs. Leave a valuable comment. There is a chance of people visiting your blog when they inspired through your comment. If you are lucky enough it may be some famous personalities who visit your blog and help you through some way. So comment effectively.

General

Comment on blogs that uses Top Commentator, Recent Comments and Comment-luv plugins. You can also keep this plugin in your blog. This will give extra traffic to your blog. Try to be in that top commentator list on the other blogs. Many people visiting that will look after that column and give a visit to your blog.

Commenting on other blogs not only gets more traffic it also gets people to know who you are and what you have to offer as far as your point of view, thoughts and really how you are able to add value to the posts.

There are so many blogs and most go for the big name blogs to get some link juice. It is always important to try and find some not so well known blogs that have some great content that just need a push.

Be a believer, comment on blogs and lots of them.

Nicely done here! I am a believer for sure!

Yes, you can increase traffic by commenting. But you could increase your traffic even more, if you would make the most commented section dofollow. (You call it “Most talkative here”.)

A nice list of benefits, and most are true enough; here’s a couple more…

Depending on your niche, don’t completely rule out commenting on blogs outside your niche.

Use the same usename/avatar EVERYWHERE, not just blog comments.

Although cash is not necessary for a contest, it will draw the most attention. ;)

I just digged your article. Great post and very helpful. The last article on my blog was also about commenting, but giving statistical data why comments are important. Some studies actually showed that comments are very important to relationship building and therefore to increase linking, improve SEO, and get more traffic.

You have to be seriously carefull when commenting, it HAS to be sincere.

For instance I have visited your site because you leave really helpful and interesting comments on mine and here I am on your’s doing the same.

But if all you say is ‘great post blah blah blah’ you will get recognised as a spam commentor.

    Good advice here brother

I often find myself debating whether to just delete this sort of comments (the ‘great post blah blah blah’ types), because this is obviously the trademark of spammers. A comment like ‘Nice one!’ sometimes makes me pause before I delete them. What if the commenter was really sincere in his comment and he just is not that wordy in giving out comments. Of course, if it is his first-ever comment on your blog, to the garbage bin it goes.

I agree that commenting on blogs can help get you more traffic, but I think more important is if you can actually add value to the article you can build “community” and you are more likely to get “natural” links from bloggers within that community.

The natural links, to me, are more valuable because someone thinks your content is worth linking to, this can bring much more traffic, and more targeted traffic which is better in my opinion.

Cool set of tips here. The best part with blog commenting is that it helps others know “who you are”, which is most important for a blogger IMO.

I like to comment on the blogs that I like. I actually don’t look at niche to be specific. I have a list of blogs that I regularly comment on and most often than not I m in the first 10 commenters on that site’s blogs. Though I might say that many of them are not in my niche and some of them are no-follow as well. But the thing I have seen is that a worthy comment brings much more traffic even if its a no-follow and the comment is in a non-niche site.
Correct me if I am wrong as i just have the basics of SEO and m not a master.

Of course, even no follow can bring traffic. All it matters is in which site you are commenting at

I cant agree that you are not seeing niche. If you are reading some blogs regularly that means you are following them to learn something, which obviously will be the niche for you. AM I RITE?
