Interesting Gmail Labs Features that you must take a look

Email is one of the best ways of communication, and it still has the same demand as in older days though, social networks, IM has come. Even Google Wave has came to replace Email and to collaborate in real time. Though, Yahoo was the one who introduced email earlier, Gmail has come lately and become a leader in the email communication.

As soon as Gmail was launched it met with immense popularity. Though it dint meet all the expectations initially it has come a long way since then. This post is going to be about how to make your mail checking more interesting in Gmail and all the additional enhancements that can be made. Recently Google has introdcued lots of them in so called “Labs”. How many of you have noticed small green color icon next to your settings button.??

Gmail Labs Feature

Youtube previews in Mail :

Gone are those days where you send a link to your friend and they copy paste the url in the address bar to watch these youtube videos. Gmail lets you watch these youtube videos then and there, in the same tab. I dont think yu can maximize it there but the videos are good enough for watching. Enable the feature if you are interested.

Message translation :

This is the probably the most used and the best feature in Google Labs. You can specify the language in which you want to translate all your message to and all the messages other than the choosen language will have an option on the top to translate the message. Hence it makes it all the more easier for you to read mails from other languages, unlike others where in yu need to copy paste them to separate translator tool.

The documents are tanslated using google translator.

Pictures in Chat:

Would you like to see your friends pictures while chatting along with them?? Simple.. enable this feature in Labs list and you will find their Display picture for each message from them. However people tend to avoid this feature as it decreases the length of the chat messages on your screen .

Muzzle:

Yet another interesting feature introduced by google. For those who donot feel like reading others status messages and fancy icons along with their names can enable this feature to hide all their messages. What you get a clean and simpler chat box with just their names. This makes it neater and more simpler to view the chat box.

    I use Gmail, but I integrate all of it into Outlook, have been using Outlook for years and just prefer “folders” to “labels”.

    I really like Gmail – especially the Sub-Email addresses – this is for all of us a great feature, isn´t it?

    But the other features like translation and the You Tube ability are great too!

    Gmail also has advanced search facilities. I was once using Yahoo but the searching was very bad and hardly retrieved what I searched for :(
