Interview with Mohit Aneja, CSS expert

Posted on 23. Nov, 2009 by in Internet & Web Design, Interviews, Marvelous Mondays

Welcome to Marvelous Monday.

This is the first time to start a fresh week with a interview with one of my favorite web designer. I was inspired by his web design at his website and his way of approach to things. I wished our readers should know about him. So here is a short interview with Mohit Aneja, web designer and owner of CSS Jockey.

Me: Hello, Mohit. Kindly introduce about yourselves to our readers.

CJ: Hi, I am Mohit Aneja (aka CJ), a freelance web designer/developer based in City Beautiful Chandigarh, India. I own CSSJockey.com and also a member of jury at The CSS Awards.com. I am passionate about web designing, development, blogging, sharing best practices, music and anything to do with good food and coffee.

Me: You look so good at web designing. What made you to enter the web designing field?

CJ: My passion for creativity and leaning new technology. While working with Dell I got a chance to create an internal reporting system which helped me gain a lot of insight to web design and development.

Me: May we know what is the reason behind selecting CSS Jockey as your nick name?

CJ: Because CSS drives a good web-design in all browsers and a Jockey (Me) is the one who operates it. I love working with CSS and strongly believe that well coded web pages render consistently in all browsers.

Me: Is it so. Where do you get inspiration and ideas for creative designing?

CJ: Everything that I see around me inspires me to create new designs and concepts. I love browsing and everything I see in and around Internet registers as a concept in my brain.

Me: We love CSSJockey.com for its design and appearance. Which is the site you appreciate most for its design and appearance?

CJ: CSSJockey.com of course!!! And Apple.com for its simplicity. This one too.

Me:Which technology is rocking now in Web design and development?

CJ: Definitely Ruby and Rails is taking over PHP and other development technologies. However PHP still stands the first choice of millions of developers around the globe.

Me: You seem to be often busy in development. How often do you blog and what are your current developments?

CJ: Due to heavy client deadlines, the developer takes over the writer in me. However, when ever I have even a small bit of time I make sure I share my ideas opinions and news with the readers. And yes I try to cut short my list of articles to blog from time to time. I’ve been trying my hands on WordPress Plugins lately and there are a few Plugins and Themes in production which I hope I’ll be able to release soon.

Me: It will be helpful if you give our readers some tips on creating a visually appealing themes.

CJ:
1. Think “out of the box”
2. Follow the standards
3. Keep it clean and simple
4. And dress{code} it well.

Me: Imagination, the free theme from CSSJockey, is highly customisable without any tech knowledge. Few words about it and what do you appreciate most in that?

CJ: Imagination came from an idea to build what’s in the market for the layman. There were a lot of themes available with multiple skins however, customizing them required one to know its techical operation. I wanted to give the community the same thing with an added advantage to use their Imagination to create what they need instead of worring about the technical know-how.

Me: Piece of thought for our users.

CJ: Do what you love and love what you do.

Me: That was a nice one. Thank you CJ for the valuable time.

CJ: You are welcome.

It was so creative his answers were as his designs and developments. Hope you enjoyed. What do you think about his interview and CSSJockey.com. You can share your thoughts at the comments section.

Cool interview! :) It's nice to hear from him, as I really REALLY loved the 'imagination' wordpress theme he realised. I'm even featuring it on a list I'm currently making! :)
