Posted on 26. Nov, 2009 by in Others, Technical Thursdays

May be its Technical Thursday, but it was a sad day last year.

It was the day, last year, when our nation has stumbled. Mumbai has been in the hand of Terrorists for 60 hours. Taj, Oberoi, Nariman house were their targets. They have held hostages. But, the soldiers and police has made some actions without thinking of their life, they are the real heroes of India, where some of them are not remembered.

Crucial Attack:

They made attack at eight places in Southern part of Mumbai. Attacks occurred at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Oberoi Trident,
the Taj Mahal Palace &amp Tower,Leopold Cafe,Cama Hospital, the Orthodox Jewish-owned Nariman House, the Metro Cinema, and a lane behind the Times of India building and St. Xavier’s College. There was also an explosion at Mazagaon, in Mumbai’s port area, and in a taxi at Vile Parle. The attack started on 26th November 2008 and continued till 29th November.

Army recovered each place from the terrorist. The final operation took place at Taj Hotel. Army rescued 250 people from the Oberoi, 300 from the Taj and 60 people (members of 12 different families) from Nariman House. In this attack around 173 people died and 308 wounded.

The following videos from CNN reveals some of the incidents happened and it covers the whole terror attack which lasted for 60 hours.

The following videos show how the terrorists planned and executed the attacks.

These are the people who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the nation and its people. They must be remembered forever and its our duty to fulfil their wishes.

1.Hemant Karkare, IPS Officer of the 1982 batch served in RAW for nine years. He solved the bomb blast in Thane and Panvel.

Arrested Terrorists:

1. Ajmal Kasab was the only attacker captured alive by police and is currently under arrest. Much of the information about the attackers’ preparation, travel, and movements comes from his confessions to the Mumbai

2. Fahim Arshad Mohammad Yusuf Ansari @ Abu Jarar aged-35 yrs.

What we can do:

Still can remember the incidents that happened last year. There will be a lot of talks about this on the anniversary. Just don’t stop talking about it after today. Let’s always remember this. There are so many other heroes, even those who kept on updating their blogs(remember a guy who was somewhere stuck near nariman house and who was constantly giving news to everyone). salute to all of them

We cant think so. We can do something to fight against it.Thoughts like “What can we do”, “We are just normal people” are the hindrance for our efforts.

A lot of media people have appreciated the efforts of common people who have, in the past one year, come out of their houses and expressed their opinions, anger and that has further given a push to the speed with which the gov machinery needed to work. If this continues, we can be sure that there will be more actions taken. Lets be positive.

Well, I have missed to mention the move from Idea Cellular Network for this Nov, 26. They have introduced a thing called “Talk for India”. I am not sure whether they gave the money to the soldiers but the effort was to be appreciated.
