Proven Ways to Encourage Comments in your blog Part II

Posted on 01. Dec, 2009 by in Blogging for beginners, Tweaking Tuesdays

Hello and Welcome to Tweaking Tuesdays.

Last Tuesday, we have discussed some of the points to encourage more comments at your blog. This is the second part of the series.

Subscribe to Replies Option:

Its common now to see blogs having option of “Subscribe to the comments”. Enabling this can make the comments to the article reach you. But its sometimes very annoying that, if many people comment on the post and it often pop up in your inbox as “A new comment on” etc.., This can ultimately make you to unsubscribe from the comments which can make you to miss some important conversations. But, what if we need some of our questions answered and we like to subscribe to the comments. So its always good to have a “Subscribe to replies” option at the comments section. There are some plugines available for enabling the option.

Have a DoFollow Comment system:

There are so many discussions regarding DoFollow and NoFollow topic as whether it passes the link juice, or page rank or anchor text. Lets not get in to it. But, what is the true fact is, its always good to keep a dofollow comments system that can encourage reader to give more comments. But, beware you can be flooded with Spam comments, so make sure you use a anti spam plugin like Akismet. Having a dofollow comment system can be like rewarding your readers by providing a link to them.

Recieve your users with great content , reward them a dofollow link so that they leave your blog happily with a idea to return back often

Use CommentLuv Plugin:

CommentLuv is one of the most prefferred plugin in wordpress. Many people are fond of it and prefer blogs using those plugin. It adds the latest article from your blog so that people can know what have you done and can they can reach your blog. This can make the visitors to increase for your blog.

You can find here the list of blogs using comment luv plugin

Use KeywordLuv plugin:

This is another plugin which is not so popular and used by few. But, I can see this is good to get link for your blog for the keyword you target for. It can make the readers to avoid the keywords at the names but a seperate place for using the keywords. This can make a good difference in blog comments.

End your post asking for your readers’ thoughts:

This thing arise in my mind when I read the Daily SEO Tip blog. Ann Smarty, the author of the blog, ends the article always with share your thoughts in comments. This made me to give a push for showing interest at comments. Thats why I have showed interest towards it and you can notice all the posts in our blog, ends with asking for user thoughts. This can make some great changes at the comments of your blog. And of course, DailySEOTip is a DoFollow blog.

With this we end, the discussion on Encouraging comments at the blog. Hope I have covered almost. Have I left something? Or do you feel something worthwhile to be done to encourage more comments? Then feel free to share them at the comments.

First of all: I think it`s kinda incredible that people make their blog nofollow. Off course, if you`re site is good enough it will draw people anyway, but you will get heaps of traffic if you give the people something for visiting – like a link. And the comments you get doesn`t have to have poor quality just because of this. I would know, I have dofollow and commentluv on all my sites. Works like a charm. Man, I just luuuv commentluv and keywordluv!

I am seriously considering adding the CommentLuv plugin on several blogs.

I learned recently that a good way to find blogs in your niche is to search for “Enable CommentLuv [replace this text with your niche keyword here] blogs”
